tow-head messes

For Mother's Day I asked for a potted herb garden.  My wish was granted, we headed to Home Depot-no questions asked, and I got cold feet.  I don't know what happened, I usually don't have commitment issues.  I guess the thought of maintaining the planters, and actually cooking with the herbs gives me a little anxiety.  My list of herbs includes: lemon thyme, parsley, basil, and cilantro.  I was also thinking of planting a cucumber plant and pepper plant.  I don't know...I'm still on the fence about this,  Hudson is still really excited about planting an "irv" garden, and I'm sure we can handle it.

I will admit that I got a little freaked out this week picking vegetables from my parents' garden.  I picked a zucchini (no problems there) and cut off some romaine lettuce.  I took the lettuce inside to wash it and discovered two snails - grossed me out and tossed the lettuce in the compost.  I realize there are bugs on the veggies, but come on...snails with no shells.  Technically I'm not sure what the slothy things were, other than disgusting.

Maybe I'll think about for the next couple of weeks, and if it's not too late when we get back from vacation I'll take the plunge.  In the meantime I will continue to find amazing examples (like the one below - from modernbackyard.com), and listen to Hudson ask about when we're going to plant our "irv" garden.

This weekend we attended our friends wedding in Panama City Beach.  It was a BLAST!  We had the best time ever.  The weather was great, the rehearsal party was festive for cinco de mayo, and the wedding was the best one we've been to in years.  Andy played the guitar before and during the ceremony, and Hudson was the ring bearer.  Awww, just writing about it makes me want to go back.  The taste of the salt water, the sand between my toes, I want to go back!  The kids have been to the beach one other time, but during off season so they didn't get the full effect.

I only have a couple of things to complain about.  #1 - We all slept in the same bed the first night down there, and there was more sand in the bed than a 1/2 square mile of the beach. #2 - SPF 50 doesn't protect my children.  Every morning I lathered the sunblock on them, and they still got sun burned.  Hudson didn't get burnt as badly as Hadley, but he prefers to wear his "swimming shirt". #3 - Our time at the beach was way too short!

Anyways, congratulations to Shana and Jarred!  Thanks for the wonderful weekend and we're so excited for you both.

The kids and I went to the river walk after church this morning so I could snap a few pictures of them.  I was really trying to get some snapshots of Hadley for her 2 year pics, but she wouldn't cooperate.  Hudson; however, was more than happy to pose. He was being quite the cheeseball, and it was hilarious!  Hadley wasn't necessarily posing, but I did manage to get a couple good ones.

We had a great Easter and the kids loved hunting for eggs over and over again. The Easter bunny hid our baskets, so first thing Easter morning we found our baskets and ate too much candy before Church.  It was a great morning that we were able to enjoy as a family because Andy didn't have to work.  I have a video that I'm going to try and upload at some point.  It's of Hudson looking for his basket, but finding Hadley's instead - it's hilarious!

Oh, and I made an awesome dessert - Strawberries & Cream Dessert Squares
