This house was definitely the ugly duckling on the block. I don't know what it was about it that we thought it had potential. We knew the front porch was a great feature of the house hiding behind the faux stucco walls. The previous owner had a thing for faux stucco, and not only did he abuse the use of stucco on the exterior, but he did inside as well. All of the original interior trim had been removed and replaced with a 6" band of stucco - it was ridiculous.
The first thing we did once we had the keys to the place, was demo all of the stucco inside. The demolition phase took longer than we thought, not to mention the biggest dumpster available, but we got through it and kept on truckin'. |
We exposed all of the original hardwood floors in the house, gutted the Bathroom, Kitchen, Mudroom, installed all new baseboards, door and window casings, demolished the Master Bath and converted it back into a third Bedroom, added on a new Master Bathroom, painted the entire interior and exterior, and opened the front porch. Yes, exhausting! |
